Cheryl McFarren, Assistant Professor of Theatre at Denison, will be playing two roles this summer in the outrageous play "The Divine Sister," written by the celebrated actor, playwright, and female impersonator Charles Busch. The production is the last in the season for the Short North Stage, a new professional theater company dedicated to bringing first-class professional theatre to the Short North Arts District in Columbus, Ohio.
The play is directed by Geoff Nelson, a frequent visiting assistant professor of Theatre at Denison. Dr. McFarren will play the parts of both Sister Walpurga and Mrs. MacDuffie. "The Divine Sister" is a comic homage to nearly every Hollywood film involving nuns. The piece is dedicated to offending delicate sensibilities by its lampooning the nun films of the 1960s.
The play runs from 29 May to 15 June 2014. Dr. McFarren teaches Acting and directs student shows at Denison. For more information and tickets, see shortnorthstage.org.
