Poet Debra Allbery is the Director of the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers.

She holds a BA from The College of Wooster, an MA from the University of Virginia, and the MFA from the University of Iowa. Her many awards include the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize, a “Discovery” The Nation Poetry Award, Ohio Poet of the Year, and two NEA Fellowships. Her first book, Walking Distance, was published by the University of Pittsburgh Press; her most recent collection, Fimbul-Winter, won the Grub Street National Book Prize in Poetry. Individual poems have appeared in The Nation, Yale Review, Kenyon Review, Poetry, Iowa Review, TriQuarterly, Western Humanities Review, Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, Missouri Review, and Southern Review, among other journals.
