Kirk Combe Awarded Doane Faculty Fellowship
The Doane Faculty Fellowship provides support for tenured faculty to take a one-semester leave. The purpose of the leave is to provide faculty with the opportunity to immerse in a scholarly project after a period of sustained leadership commitments and / or investment in teaching and pedagogy.
During his research leave, Combe will be working on “Rant Against the Machine: Satire, Science Fiction, and Monstrosity versus Neoliberal Globalism.” This project investigates textual and filmic pieces of the 20th and 21st century that blend these three noteworthy genres as a way to critique the political-economic hegemony of our day. Combe has been engaged in service to the college ranging from President’s Advisory Board, chair of the Theatre Department, and Faculty Athletic Representative. During this time he also received the Charles A. Brickman Teaching Excellence Award.
