Dr. Thomas Witherspoon ‘05 Returns to Denison
Dr. Thomas Witherspoon of the class of 2005 returns to Denison this fall as the new Associate Dean of Students and Director of Multi-Cultural Student Affairs.
Dr. Witherspoon graduated from Denison with a degree in English and went on to earn a Doctorate of Education from the New England College and a Master of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University. Prior to coming to Denison, Dr. Witherspoon served as Program Director for The Posse Foundation. His connections to both the Posse Foundation and to Denison are strong in that he was a member of Denison’s first Posse cohort from Chicago.
In addition to his responsibilities as the Director of Multi-cultural Student Affairs, Dr. Witherspoon will now join the Black Studies Committee. Historically, the precedent of having the Director of Multicultural Affairs serve on the Black Studies Committee was established early on by the Black Studies Committee. However, Dr. Witherspoon brings his administrative expertise in student development as well as his area of specialization in Education. The Black Studies Department looks forward to working with Dr. Witherspoon and experiencing his fresh vision of multi-cultural student life at Denison.
