Biography

Carlos Funn is a visual protagonist and provocateur who assembles what he calls socially conscious cabarets. Funn’s background draws on being a dancer, drummer, photographer and film artist from Richmond, Va, who received his MFA in Screen Dance from the University of Michigan and a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University. Funn’s current work involves multidisciplinary experiments centered around dance, film, sound installation and animation. Funn is also co-founder of the moving24fps.com a multi-city dance film festival in partnership with the late dance and filmmaker Marcus White. Funn has taught throughout the US and Japan. Most recently, Funn has served as Guest Artist in Residence at the University of Maryland College Park and Western Michigan University where he taught Creative Process, Dance for Camera and West African Dance.
