Doug Swift

Doug Swift directed the multimedia documentary 10,000 ACRES, about a patch of land in Muskingum County that is home to one of the largest endangered species preserves in North American. The land was previously strip mined, farmed, home to historical Indegenous Americans and, over 2,000 years ago, home to a civilization that excelled at building mounds and earthworks. Swift has created other documentary films set in Ohio, including Searching for Shawnee, What Matters?, Up River, Breathe Free, and more. He is also creating a podcast, with colleague Jack Shuler, called This is Ohio, in which they tell the stories of Ohioians living quietly heroic lives. He holds an MA from the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars, and an MFA from the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
