The TUTTI Festival welcomes the Berry Nance Dance Project and the Mark Lomax Trio for an evening of contemporary dance, live music and text.

Featuring the work of Stafford Berry, assistant professor of dance at Denison, and his partner Kemal Nance, the Berry & Nance Dance Project will perform “Who I Be.” Inspired by the work of playwright August Wilson, “Who I Be” draws from the choreographers’ own experiences as black men living in modern America. Berry, Nance and their all male company weave together a bold, contemporary dance theater piece that questions the complexities of life in this country. An acclaimed jazz drummer and composer, Lomax consistently impresses with his impassioned playing. His work is often as inspired by writers and thinkers such as Amiri Baraka and August Wilson as it is by spiritual jazz forebears like Elvin Jones, John Coltrane, and Archie Shepp.
