This end-of-semester concert features Denison University student dancers in collaged and new dances constructed by Professor Gill Wright Miller, Visiting Assistant Professor Marion Ramírez, and student choreographers Emma Margo ‘23 and Jules Rizzo ‘24. Miller’s collaged work merges and transforms themes, short passages, and choreographic methods of renowned mid-century modern work. Ramírez is choreographing a new work based on a creative process with students in which we examine through somatic improvisations the emotional landscapes of social isolation during the pandemic. Margo’s quintet aims to destabilize gendered movement in a way that embraces bodily autonomy and supports the dancers’ own gender expressions, while Rizzo’s sextet focuses on gestural phrases derived from her own movement research conducted during her independent study throughout the semester.

Performance Dates and Times are as follows:

  • Friday, April 22, at 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 23, at 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 24, at 2 p.m.
