The Department of Dance welcomes all interested students to audition for “In/visible Spectrum,” the Department’s Fall Dance Concert on Friday, Dec. 3, through Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021. Several dancers are needed for a new work by Visiting Assistant Professor Surya Swilley and multiple works by student choreographers enrolled in Choreographic Investigations (DANC 284). The audition will consist of a movement workshop led by Assistant Professor Molly Shanahan, Visiting Assistant Professor Surya Swilley, and select student choreographers. Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out brief paperwork, and wear comfortable clothing (no shorts, in case there is floorwork featured in the audition workshop). All interested dancers of all levels and all styles are welcome and no prior experience is necessary. Dancers will be notified by or before Monday, Sept. 6, and will be asked to commit to weekly rehearsals (2x/week or 3x/week) beginning the week of Sept. 6, or the week of Sept. 13, with specific times to be arranged by each choreographer. All performers are expected to be available for mandatory technical and dress rehearsals and performances the week of Nov. 28, through Dec. 5, 2021; specific call times tbd.
