The 4 Year Denison Tour - English for Academic Purposes

Dates: January 25-29
Time: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. ET
Open to: All international students

This English for Academic Purposes program (EAP) will guide students of all years through their time at Denison, with each day of the week corresponding to one of their four college years. Additional contributors will engage students in other campus resources that they will utilize during their time at Denison, including the Office of Off-Campus Study, the Knowlton Center, the Writing Center, and more. The focus of each day will introduce students to different language skills they will use throughout their Denison career, from learning the structure of academic writing in their W101 (Monday), to writing proposals for summer research (Tuesday), to presenting academic research (Wednesday), to interviewing for internships and potential careers (Thursday and Friday). First-year students will have the opportunity to see what awaits them in their next few years at Denison, second- and third-year students will have the chance to reinforce their skills as they work toward mastery, and fourth-year students will be able to reflect on their experiences and share with others as they begin the transition to life beyond the hill.

Facilitators: Kaly Thayer, contributing faculty and staff
