Time: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. & 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. (both days)
Open to: Current juniors and seniors

Your career success is only partly shaped by your intelligence, hard work, and subject matter expertise. In any organization, making things happen involves dealing with people whose interests are often incompatible. To have a successful career and to achieve great things you need to be effective at influencing others. In this course you’ll learn how to navigate workplace dynamics and influence for success from international organization behavior expert and London Business School professor Richard Jolly.

After completing this program, you will become more sensitive to power dynamics, learn a conceptual framework for understanding and analyzing four key dimensions of power  in organizations, and identify sources of power and influence that will allow you to accomplish your goals. Specifically, you should be able to:

  • see power and its effects, even if well hidden
  • Improve your effectiveness at getting promoted
  • gather greater influence to achieve things you care about
  • experience the use of politics by others, and upon others
  • avoid being a victim of the power of others
  • build effective alliances and coalitions to create coordinated action

Presenter:  Richard Jolly

Attendance will be limited to 50 participants but we will maintain a wait list if more than 50 students express interest.
