Denison University’s Beck Series partners with the Thurber House to welcome author Tayari Jones presenting a reading at the Columbus Museum of Art. Her novel An American Marriagewas an Oprah’s Book Club Selection, and won the 2019 Women’s Prize for Fiction. A special reception, with hors d’oeuvres and beverages, open only to Denisonians will take place at 6 p.m., prior to the book reading and signing at 7 p.m. Register below.
Jones is the author of four novels, An American Marriage, an Oprah Book Club pick, the 2019 Women’s Prize for Fiction in Great Britain, the 2019 Aspen Words Literary Prize, and the 2019 NAAP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work—Fiction; Silver Sparrow, chosen for the NEA’s Big Read Library; The Untelling, and Leaving Atlanta. Jones holds degrees from Spelman College, Arizona State University, and the University of Iowa. She has received fellowships from the Radcliffe Institute For Advanced Studies, United States Artist Foundation, and Black Mountain Institute. Jones lives in Atlanta, where she is a professor of English and Creative Writing at Emory University.
The reception is open only to Denisonians at a cost of $15, which includes the later reading.
General audiences may register at a cost of $26.25 for the reading only at the Thurber House.
