Kente Cloth Stole Award

The Center for Cross-Cultural Engagement is accepting applications for a 2016 Kente Cloth Stole award. The Kente Cloth Stoles are awarded to students in the cross-cultural community who have demonstrated active leadership, engagement and commitment to Denison University.

The Kente Cloth has it’s origin with the Ashanti Kingdom, and was adapted by people in Ivory Coast and many other West African countries. It was an Akan royal and sacred cloth worn only in times of extreme importance and was considered to be the cloth of kings. Over time, the use of Kente Cloth became more widespread. However, its importance has remained and it is held in high esteem with the Akans.
