Grads and their families are welcome to stop by and experience the newest addition to Denison’s Fine Arts Quad, which is now home to the departments of dance, music, and theatre.

4 - 5 p.m. and
7 - 8 p.m.

Baccalaureate Celebration
Swasey Chapel

Baccalaureate is a multi-religious gathering for graduates and their guests. It celebrates the pluralistic community that comprises our college today, including its Protestant Christian roots. The 4 and 7 p.m. services are identical. Traditionally, Swasey Chapel is nearly filled for both one-hour programs, and seating is limited and unreserved. Graduates, their families, and guests may choose to attend either of the identical Baccalaureate programs.

Senior Soirée for Graduates and Family Members
Reese~Shackelford Common

Held on the eve of Commencement, this event is a time for seniors to come together with parents and other assembled family members under the tent on Reese~Shackelford Common to celebrate their four years together and their transition into the Society of the Alumni. Live music, dancing, food, and fun are featured in an informal and festive atmosphere as seniors gather to enjoy their last night as undergrads! A highlight of the evening is a toast by President Weinberg and the class co-governors.

Please note: There’s no need to make off-campus dinner reservations! Food trucks, a cash bar, and special-needs transportation are available. In addition, coffee and desserts are offered for purchase in the Slayter Hall snack bar area. Food trucks include Pitabilities, Mai Chau, The Burrito Bus, and Moe’s Original Bar B Que.

Saturday - May 18, 2019

Beginning at 8 a.m., shuttles to the Mitchell Center will run continuously throughout the campus, stopping at campus parking lots. Shuttles also will run after Commencement, transporting guests back to their vehicles.

The Faculty Coffee
Lamson Lodge lawn

One of the most treasured of our Commencement traditions is this opportunity for graduates to introduce their families to their professors. Look for faculty members at designated locations for academic departments and programs from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the Commencement ceremony. Graduates and their families are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy a farewell visit with the scholars and mentors who have been central to their Denison education. Complimentary coffee, tea, and hot breakfast items available.

11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Commencement Exercises
Mitchell Center — Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. Tickets are required.

Please note: Denison has designated Herrick Performance Hall as an overflow viewing site, where a live video feed of the Commencement ceremony will be provided. Herrick is located at 500 West Loop on the college’s science quad. Tickets are not required for entrance, and there is no reserved seating. The program will begin shortly before 11 a.m.
