Meet the Deans

Each year at college presents unique opportunities and challenges. Class deans provide expert support for you as you navigate your time on The Hill.

As Director of Orientation & First-Year Experience, Nathan and his team lead Denison orientation programming (June, August, and pre-orientations). Nathan focuses on how to help first-year students transition successfully to Denison and fosters opportunities to onboard them and help them to connect to Denison through their entire first year. Nathan joined Denison in 2021.

As Director of Advising, Sarah oversees academic advising at Denison. She has engaged faculty this year to discuss their needs as advisors and how her office can bolster support for faculty advisors. She will continue to partner with First-Year Experience on June Orientation. Sarah joined Denison in 2007 and is an Associate Professor of Mathematics.

Torrance oversees the Academic Resource Center’s tutoring program and supports students in developing stronger academic skills. Since joining Denison in 2019, he has worked with faculty in support of the CARE system, especially regarding students’ academic performance.

Mike has been at Denison since 2009, serving as the Associate Director of the Data Analytics program since 2017. He has worked extensively with students, including several years as advisor to DCGA.
