Making Music in Beirut
Professor Chris Michael, Director of Jazz Studies, Notre Dame University of Beirut and timpanist with the Lebanese Philharmonic will speak about his experiences as an American musician in Beirut and beyond. Originally from Ohio, Chris has lived and played music for the better part of a decade in Jordan, Dubai, Qatar and now in Beirut, he directs the only Jazz Studies program in the region.
Wednesday, Sept. 2, Chris will lead an informal talk on living/performing and teaching in the Mid East — our jazz faculty will be on hand and we hope to play a couple of tunes with Chris (so if you can stop by you might get a bit of a concert too!).
