Dr. Courtney Smith-Kilbury (DU '06) will present “Evidence-based practice in the treatment of comorbid posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and alcohol use disorder in US veterans. Courtney is current affiliated with the Veterans Affairs (VA) Northern California Health Care System.

PTSD and substance use problems frequently co-occur in veterans seeking care at VA clinics and hospitals. Dr. Smith-Kilbury focuses on treating veterans of all eras diagnosed with substance use disorder and PTSD. In her talk, she will describe how her work at Denison and graduate school paved the way for her current clinical work. She will also describe evidence-based practice and its value in treating veterans dually diagnosed.

The event is sponsored by the Department of Psychology. It is free and open to the public.
