"Tell Better Stories" Writing Workshop on Memoir

Narrative Journalism continues its “Tell Better Stories” series on Fourth Saturdays at NEWORK Space. This stand-alone workshop on March 23, 2019 is led by Heather Shaw on “Tell Better Stories: Telling Your Truth: Writing Memoir”. She will focus on the basics of writing about ourselves, including writing about family, writing truthfully from memory, and choosing what to include (and what to leave out) to keep the story moving in the right direction. Participants will come away with practical strategies for choosing a topic, outlining the story, and finishing the first draft. Heather is a freelance writer from Newark, Ohio and winner of the Award of Excellence from the Columbus Arts Festival. Event is held at 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
