Student News

Denison voice students won awards for their singing at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition at Bowling Green State University held on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Meg Odell '19 and Nick Van Atta '17 won 2nd and 4th places in the Musical Theatre categories.

Both students study voice with Belinda Andrews-Smith, assistant professor of music and coordinator of the vocal studies program. This is the 11th year that Smith's Denison voice students have placed while competing against the largest music programs in the state.

The purpose of the NATS competition “has been to select, through a series of elimination rounds on the district, regional, and national levels, singers whose artistry indicates that they are ready for a professional career and to encourage them toward that goal with a cash prize and the opportunity for performance engagements.”
