Faculty

Chris Westover, Director of Bands for the Department of Music at Denison, presented Guest Clinician, Dr. Charles Peltz, to work with local area high school bands in the historic Swasey Chapel on their contest music selections. New Albany, Centerburg, Granville, Utica, and Watkins High Schools performed their pieces for Peltz, who is the Music Director of Glens Falls Symphony and has conducted many symphony orchestras including the Syracuse Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic and others.

Jerod Smith, Band Director for Granville Middle and High School, shared, “We have a great relationship with Denison and are thrilled to be invited for events such as guest clinicians who work with our students. Having that college-level experience helps our students look ahead and makes our music program at Granville even stronger.”

“The Denison Band Clinic was a wonderful experience for my students, said Michael Dean, Band Director for Utica Middle and High School. “Getting to rehearse with Dr. Peltz was an enjoyable an educational experience. It’s always great to have a fresh set of ears to help us pick out things to improve on.
