We are pleased to announce that Dr. May Mei, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, was awarded the Bayley Bowen Fellowship. This fellowship recognizes outstanding work in the classroom by a faculty member during his/her first three years at Denison. With this honor, Dr. Mei will be awarded a full-year leave after her successful tenure review. She spent her junior leave working with research collaborators at Virginia Tech. There, she gave a presentation entitled “Substitution Trace Maps” at the applied analysis seminar. She also organized a panel for graduate students on applying for academic jobs at small liberal arts colleges and presented “Step Two: Transitioning from Graduate School to the Tenure Track” to the local chapter of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
