The department was excited to have Dr. Barry Lawson, Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Richmond present Agent-based simulation of biological systems at our Faculty and Student Talk (FaST Talk). Dr. Lawson’s work simulates a wide-range of systems, including everything from systems in the health care industry to ocean sponges. Not only did this engaging presentation demonstrate the value of computer simulation to our students, but also showed how computer science can be used to answer questions in a range of other disciplines. Dr. Lawson works with a number of collaborators in his research, including undergraduate students.
