This summer a group of mathematicians from Denison University, Kenyon College, Middlebury College, Oberlin University, and Williams College gathered at Oberlin to discuss teaching advanced analysis. This workshop, the GLCA workshop on Analysis at Liberal Arts Colleges, was designed and organized by Dr. May Mei of Denison and Chris Marx of Oberlin under the GLCA Expanding Collaboration Initiative program. Attendees gave a presentation on their work with undergraduates in analysis or their pedagogical strategies for teaching this advanced mathematical topic at a liberal arts institution. As a follow-up to this three-day event, participants will conduct an analysis webinar series during the 2016-17 academic year to expose undergraduate students at the participating colleges to additional or recent topics in analysis that are typically not represented in the standard undergraduate curriculum. We look forward to seeing this collaboration develop.
