This summer, Dr. Wolff had a paper accepted to the International Conference on Formal Power Series and Algebraic Combinatorics (FPSAC). She presented a poster at FPSAC in Vancouver entitled “Separation of Variables and the Computation of Fourier Transforms on Finite Groups, II”. Dr. Wolff's research involves determining efficient algorithms to compute Fourier Transforms (the math behind much of our digital technology, including cell phone transmissions). Her algorithms work by diagramming out the process so as to find and exploit patterns. If you'd like to learn more about the algorithm and diagrams, just stop by Dr. Wolff's office and she'd be happy to talk about them!
