Andrew Sterrett, professor emeritus of mathematics, has had the 3rd edition of his 101 Careers in Mathematics published by the Mathematical Association of America. Originally published in 1996 with a second edition published in 2003, 101 Careers is described by the MAA as “immensely popular” and a “valuable resource” to students and student counselors alike. The book is comprised of a collection of essays written by professionals with mathematics degrees. Ranging from engineers to sculptors, each author brings a new perspective to how a background in mathematics can lead to a satisfying professional life. The third edition includes twenty-five new entries, on top of updates to the career paths of individuals profiled in the first and second editions, bringing the total number of essays in the book to 146. 101 Careers is one of three books edited by Sterrett, author of two other books on mathematics.
