Mathemagician Art Benjamin at Denison
This week, the Denison Math and Computer Science Department had the privilege of hosting the mathematician and magician, Art Benjamin. Benjamin is a professor of mathematics at Harvey Mudd College but is more known for mental math capabilities and “Mathemagics” performances in front of live audiences. His mathematical abilities have been highlighted in newspaper and magazine articles, at TED Talks and on the Colbert Report. His shows include performing mental calculations faster than a calculator, quickly memorizing 100-digit numbers, card tricks, and even naming the day of the week of any audience members' birthdays. While at Denison, Benjamin is also practicing card tricks he will be recording for set of videos he is making this summer.
