This is the third session in a series of faculty workshops on Learning, Teaching, and the Brain. This workshop will present information on the expectations for class attendance, Denison’s absence policy, and the many mental and physical health challenges that affect Denison’s students’ attendance. We will use case studies to discuss the resiliency of students, as well as their mental health, chronic health conditions, sleep, and acute conditions. Our goals will be to inform faculty and staff about the importance of holding all students accountable to essential course components and the instructional support that Denison students may need in the presence of mental and physical health challenges. Workshop facilitators: Jennifer Vestal (Director, Academic Resource Center), Heather Johnston Welliver (Associate Director, Academic Resource Center), Mark Moller (Dean of First-Year Students), Bill Fox (Dean of Students), Amanda Lefeld (Dire ctor, Whisler Center for Student Wellness).
