"Take a break" suggests Connor Hanrahan '17
This summer Denison baseball pitcher Connor Hanrahan '17 isn't practicing is curveball. The economics major is interning with LBF Recruitment Strategies in Chicago. As part of his duties, Hanrahan researched and wrote an article about how Americans are not good at taking their vacation time, and about how not taking that time negatively impacts their work.
He found that, on average, each year American workers leave five vacation days on the table.
Hanrahan notes: “Employers and employees agree vacation time is crucial. That’s why PTO (paid time off) is a pretty standard benefit these days. But, time and time again studies show a direct correlation between refusing to take time away from work and a decline in both productivity and quality of work. So, why are employees shying away from taking advantage of what they’ve earned?”
