Police Data Challenge

Police department light on wall

Four teams of Data Analytics, Mathematics, and Computer Science students are participating in the Police Data Challenge, sponsored by the American Statistical Association.

Using data available through the Police Data Initiative, students are analyzing complex data sets from the Baltimore, Cincinnati and Seattle Police Departments, and recommending innovative solutions to enhance public safety. The competition ends Friday November 3. Submissions will include a short essay describing the team’s process and making recommendations. Winning teams will present their findings to local police chiefs and will have a chance to have an impact on local communities. Anthony Bonifonte, Instructor in the Data Analytics program, is sponsoring the student teams.
