The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science held its 10th annual pumpkin carving contest. This year saw nearly fifty entries of math or computer science themed pumpkins. The department provided the pumpkins and the students provided the imagination. We even had our first laser-cut entries this year – the first 250 digits of Pi on what else? A pumpkin pie of course! The top three winning teams were:
- Peter and the Polyhedra by Blaire Hamilton, Isabelle Mattosain, and Mara Kilogroe
- Artificial Intelligence by Peize Song, Wanzhi Wang, Jiachun Wu and Tong Zhou
- Your’e the Same by Christine Schmittgen
And the President’s Choice Award went to We Choose Math by Effie Henrey and Elizabeth Waters
