Debbie Wakefield ’14
Debbie works with Ohio State today, but she’s also done similar work for the Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana. Four fun facts: She’s a coffee addict. She follows corgis on Instagram. She loves to go horseback riding. And she enjoys talking with college students who are just starting their career.
My career is very visual. I do a lot of designing, designing graphics, taking photographs, shooting video, editing video. That’s something I learned partly at Denison through a photography class and a screen-writing class.
One of my favorite things is that I get to be creative, so there’s not necessarily one right answer or correct way of doing things. You get to experiment. You get to try new things. It’s always changing.
I’m a communications and marketing specialist so I manage social media, email marketing, the website and digital marketing for the Veterinary College at Ohio State University.
Some days, my job can be very analytical. On Mondays, I start my day looking at our social media and email analytics. I go through our social dashboards looking at how last weeks’ posts performed—and assess them both qualitatively and quantitatively.
