First and foremost, Denison strives to reduce its overall consumption and waste by reusing items on campus and donating unneeded items to local charities and service organizations.
Many departments on campus participate in an office supplies exchange program and the Purchasing Office coordinates a yearly surplus sale of furniture and other items no longer used by the college.
When new purchases are made, Denison is committed to the use and purchase of environmentally and socially responsible materials and products. People authorized to make purchases on behalf of the college are expected to support its commitment to environmental responsibility through the guidelines and procedures contained in the Sustainable Purchasing Policy [pdf].
