Date of Event: March 14, 2010
Posted: February 26, 2010
The public is invited to attend a Denison University Suzuki Music Program recital at 3 p.m., on Sunday, March 14, in the Rehearsal Room of Denison’s Burke Hall (240 West Broadway). A talent education session will follow the recital at 4:30 p.m. Suzuki instruction is offered in cello, flute, piano, viola and violin for students ages three to adult. The recital and information session are free and open to the public.
The Suzuki Method is a way of teaching music to children developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, who believed in fostering the potential in every young person. Just as all children develop the ability to speak their mother tongue, Suzuki believed that any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability and other lifelong skills with the help of a skilled and caring teacher and his or her parent.
The program currently has openings for cello, flute, and piano for the summer semester, which begins on or around Monday, April 19. Please contact the Denison Suzuki program director, Jim Van Reeth, at 740-975-4644 for additional information.
