Denison Faculty Jazz Quintet Presents Concert To Showcase New CD

The Denison University Faculty Jazz Quintet presents a concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 18) in Burke Recital Hall. The Quintet, featuring Doug Richeson on bass, Pete Mills on saxophone, Richard Lopez on piano, Tom Carroll on guitar and Guy Remonko on drums, will showcase selections from their first recording being released on the BRC label. The concert will be free and open to the public and CDs will be for sale for a discounted price of $10.
Richeson, an affiliated studio instructor in Denison's music department has toured and recorded with Phil Collins and Tony Bennett, appearing on three Grammy-award winning albums with Bennett. Also an affiliated studio instructor, Mills is the director of the Denison Jazz Ensemble, a student organization that provides an opportunity to study and perform a wide variety of popular music.
Lopez is a member of the adjunct faculty at Denison and at Capital University in Columbus. He has performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra and the Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus.
Remonko is director of percussion studies at Ohio University and is a member of the Bob Thompson Trio.
Carroll has been an instructor in Denison's music department since 1980. He has performed with Ernie Watts, Marvin Stamm, Rusty Bryant and Garney and leads his own ensemble, The Tom Carroll Trio.
