As an intellectual community, Denison’s vitality lies in inquiry and exploration—in consistently seeking out new understandings and points of view. Therefore, we see not just the value but the necessity of fostering a community of diverse individuals: students, faculty and staff of varying backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, abilities and worldviews who all recognize the importance of sharing their unique insights and ideas. Every voice speaks to a new perspective, so every voice matters.

We believe providing accurate information, maintaining a supportive community, and enforcing policies and laws to be the most effective method of addressing alcohol and drug abuse. Denison is committed to the health and safety of all students and employees, and to an environment which promotes the academic mission of the University. The federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989 require that Denison University distribute this Alcohol and Drug policy information to all students, staff, and faculty on an annual basis.

The May Term internship is an educational experience for students interested in teaching or other educational endeavors. During the internship the student acts as an apprentice to the site supervisor; in schools this takes the form of working a regular teacher's schedule for approximately three weeks. If the classroom teacher accepts the responsibility of directing an intern, then it is reasonable to expect the intern to complete certain objectives.
