Sustainability

Denison University is committed to the use and purchase of environmentally and socially responsible materials and products. People authorized to make purchases on behalf of the college are expected to support our commitment to environmental responsibility through the guidelines and procedures contained in this Sustainable Purchasing Policy.

Sustainability

Denison is committed to reducing its impact on the environment. To that end, Denison operates an extensive campus recycling program to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and to utilize resources in a more responsible manner.  We recognize, however, that recycling is only one part of the issue. To move toward a more sustainable campus, Denison also must strive to reduce its consumption and waste in all aspects of campus operations.

Every institution of higher education in the United States is routinely reviewed for accreditation by one of the nation’s regional independent accrediting agencies. Accreditation assures the public of the fundamental quality of the institution. It is also a requirement for a college or university to receive federal or state grants or student loans. Denison University was under review in 2009 by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC-NCA).
