Every institution of higher education in the United States is routinely reviewed for accreditation by one of the nation’s regional independent accrediting agencies. Accreditation assures the public of the fundamental quality of the institution. It is also a requirement for a college or university to receive federal or state grants or student loans. Denison University was under review in 2009 by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC-NCA).
