Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.

This training manual is designed to promote awareness of risk and liability issues and to provide students with the training to enable them to work safely and effectively in the communities they are engaged in. Please read it carefully.

The Anderson Endowment Program and the Bowen Summer Scholarship Program provide Denison an opportunity to support student research in the sciences that is conducted under the guidance of a Denison science faculty member. The experience occurs during ten weeks of the summer when students conduct a research project and participate in the scholarly community that develops on campus.

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is employment, which is an “integral part of the established curriculum”. Such training is defined as, “alternate work/study, internship, cooperative education or any other type of required internship or practicum which is offered by sponsoring employers through cooperative agreements with the school”. The student must have been lawfully enrolled on a full-time basis for at least nine consecutive months before applying for CPT. The employment/internship must be directly related to your field of study.

All stipends are $3300. These stipends must only support full-time, unpaid interns. Summer work terms should be approximately 10 weeks in length, totaling 350-400 hours. All of the stipend awards below were established by Denison alumnus and Life Trustee Joseph E. McMahon.

AmeriCorps is a domestic service organization that places corps members in community service positions all around the country. AmeriCorps has three different programs, AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate Program, and AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps).

City Year is an education focused non-profit organization that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service to keep students in school and on track to graduation.

Jesuit Volunteer Corps supports organizations that provide direct service to people who are poor and marginalized by placing volunteers at schools, non-profits, and other sites around the world. JVs corps members bring energy and hope to the individuals and organizations they serve and gain valuable life skills, insights, and connections. Lutheran Volunteer Corps is an independent, non-profit organization that enrolls corps members in a one-year, national volunteer service program. It is for people who want to explore their spirituality while working for social justice, living in intentional community with other volunteers, and practice sustainability in all aspects of their lives. LVC works with all people and does not discriminate on the basis of religious affiliation when hiring.
