    Full Description: The Beck Lecture Series welcomes creative writing faculty David Baker, Peter Grandbois and Margot Singer as they present their work. Baker is a professor of English and holds the Thomas B. Fordham Chair of Creative Writing. He is the author of sixteen books of poetry and criticism, most recently “Scavenger Loop.” His book “Never-Ending Birds” won the Theodore Roethke Memorial Poetry Prize in 2011. He is poetry editor of The Kenyon Review. Grandbois is currently an associate professor of English and the author of seven books, including “The Gravedigger,” selected by Barnes and Noble for its “Discover Great New Writers” program, “The Arsenic Lobster: A Hybrid Memoir,” named one of the top five memoirs of 2009 by the Sacramento News and Review, “Nahoonkara,” winner of the gold medal in literary fiction in ForeWord magazine’s Book of the Year Awards for 2011. Singer is an associate professor of English and currently holds the Dominick Consolo Endowed Professorship. She is author of a book of linked stories, “The Pale of Settlement,” winner of the Flannery O’Connor Award, and is co-editor of “Bending Genre: Essays on Creative Nonfiction.” Singer directs the Creative Writing Program as well as the Reynolds Young Writers Workshop, Denison’s summer creative writing program for high school writers.

    Full Description: The Beck Lecture Series welcomes poet Kevin Prufer. Prufer is the author of six books of poetry, including "Churches," one of the New York Times Book Review’s “Ten Favorite Poetry Books of 2014,” and "In a Beautiful Country," a Rilke Prize finalist, and the editor of numerous anthologies, among them "New European Poets" and "New Young American Poets." Editor-at-Large of "Pleiades: A Journal of New Writing and co-curator of the Unsung Masters Series," Prufer has served as a vice president of the National Book Critics Circle. His forthcoming volumes include three essay anthologies: "Into English: Essays on Multiple Translations," "Catherine B. Davis: On the Life & Work of an American Master," and "Literary Publishing in the 21st Century." His poetry book, "How He Loved Them," is forthcoming from Four Way Books.
