Full Description: The Spectrum Series welcomes Paul Loeb presenting a workshop titled "Toward a Real Utopia: Sustainability, Social Justice and Active Citizenship at Denison." Loeb has spent more than 30 years researching and writing about citizen responsibility and empowerment – asking what makes some people choose lives of social commitment, while others abstain. He has written five books about social engagement, and founded the Campus Election Engagement Project, a non-partisan effort which helped more than 750 colleges and universities engage their students in the 2008 and 2012 elections. He also has been a participant in roundtables held by the U.S. Department of Education on the promotion of civic engagement in higher education. Co-sponsored by the Alford Center for Service Learning, the Center for Women and Gender Action, and the Ohio Campus Compact. Free and open to the public.
