    Full Description: The Laura C. Symposium welcomes Zama Coursen-Neff, the executive director of the children's rights division of Human Rights Watch. She leads the organization’s work on children’s rights and chairs the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA). Coursen-Neff also conducts fact-finding investigations and is the author of reports and articles on a range of issues affecting children, including access to education, police violence, refugee protection, the worst forms of child labor, and discrimination against women and girls.

    Full Description: The Beck Lecture series welcomes essayist and fiction writer Andrew Lam. Lam is editor and co-founder of New America Media, the country's first and largest national collaboration and advocate of 3,000 ethnic news organizations. He's also the author of two essay collections, Perfume Dreams: Reflections on the Vietnamese Diaspora and East Eats West: Writing in Two Hemispheres, and of a short-story collection, Birds of Paradise Lost. He was a regular commentator to NPR's "All Things Considered" for eight years, currently blogs with the Huffington Post and has a column with the Shanghai Daily.

    Full Description: The Laura C. Harris Symposium welcomes Celia Williamson and James Marsh presenting a lecture about human trafficking and prostitution. Williamson organizes each year the largest scholarly anti-trafficking conference in Toledo called The International Human Trafficking, Prostitution and Sex Work Conference. She also is the founder of Second Chance, the first anti-trafficking organization in Ohio. Marsh is partner at Marsh Law Firm, which represents victims of sex abuse in colleges, churches, and government and military institutions; online sexual exploitation; child pornography, and child trafficking. He is currently involved in a landmark civil rights action to stop a new federal law from undermining pending federal investigations of a university’s mishandling of a sexual assault case on campus.
