The Granville Recreation District presents Yiddishe Cup, a Klezmer band, at Denison
    Show Event Details
Full Description: Yiddishe Cup, formed in 1988, is regarded as one of the top-10 Klezmer bands in the North America. The band has played across the U.S. at festivals, colleges and numerous Jewish gatherings. Klezmer (Yiddish for village musician) is a hybrid of Eastern European Jewish folk music, American swing, Yiddish theater tunes and Israeli horas. The Evening Post of Wellington, New Zealand, called it "a delicious concoction that sounds like jazz, but with 11 secret herbs and spices added." The only group Granville Concerts on the Green has ever presented that features a "shtickmeister," Yiddishe Cup blends outstanding musicianship with an eccentric music mix and hip humor. Also featured will be the Sophie’s Pierogi food truck.

Graven Feather Gallery in Toronto, Canada offers an exhibition by DU Professor Micaela Vivero, "Germinating Brick," for the month of July.
    Show Event Details
Full Description: Graven Feather Gallery in Toronto, Canada offers an exhibition by DU Professor Micaela Vivero, "Germinating Brick," for the month of July. Micaela de Vivero’s organic pieces hang with an odd but benign presence within and about the spaces they occupy, beguiling the mind and stimulating the imagination. Rich with textural variation and often surprisingly ethereal, there is a seductive sense of invisible narrative behind the surfaces displayed. Using materials such as cloth, mesh, handmade and industrial paper, hand-crochet textiles and animal intestines, her work references membranes, screens, borders, wrappings, skins and things left behind. Sticks poke through, tight junctions are pushed into unexpected angles, and shadows and light stream and scatter in and through form.

"Jeff" Jeffries (James Stewart) is confined to a wheelchair with a broken leg, he becomes obsessed with watching the private dramas of his neighbors play out across the courtyard.
