Vehicle Registration

Cars, motorcycles, mopeds, vans, trucks, and all other motorized vehicles must be registered with the University through Student Accounts.

A Denison vehicle registration sticker is not only a parking permit, but is required for roadway use of a motor vehicle on campus. A registration permit must be placed on the vehicle within 72 hours of physically locating the vehicle on campus or a "No Visible Registration" citation will be issued. Registration permits must be visibly displayed on the driver's side of the rear bumper (or in the bottom corner of the driver's side rear window) of the car or on the fender of the motorcycle or moped. Parking permits remain the property of Denison University.

  • The 2013-2014 Vehicle Registration fee is $100.
  • A $15 charge will be assessed for replacement permits (lost, stolen or upgraded) issued during the year.
Registration Process

You must present a valid state vehicle registration form to register your vehicle. A student may only have one vehicle registered and on campus at any given time.

Student Accounts must have your State Vehicle Registration form on file in order to process your Vehicle Registration request.

  • If you think we already have your State Vehicle Registration on file because you registered this vehicle (with this license plate number) previously, then no need to furnish another copy. If we subsequently find that we do not have the correct State Vehicle Registration, we will email you to request it.
  • If you know you have not previously registered this vehicle with this license plate number, please furnish a copy of the current State Vehicle Registration. Please check expiration date to make sure it is current.

To minimize your time in line when picking up your parking permit, please make sure that Student Accounts has your Vehicle Registration Form and State Vehicle Registration no later than one week before classes begin. The Vehicle Registration Forms will be processed nightly.

Please note that Vehicle Registration permits will not be mailed, but will need to be picked up in person. Once your permit is ready for you to pick up, you will receive an email with instructions. They are generally ready for pick up the next working day – however, the earliest date that Fall 2013 Vehicle Registration permits will be available for pick up is September 4.

If you bring a car to campus mid-year you must register it at Student Accounts the next day that the office is open (M-F 8:30am — 4:30pm, closed 12:00am — 1:00pm on Thursdays). Meanwhile, park where your class is allowed to park. If you get a parking ticket, bring it to Student Accounts when you come in to register. Students should never park in visitor parking.

Additional Information:

Visitor & Temporary Parking

Visitors are people who do not attend Denison and do not work at Denison. Visitors to University offices may park in visitor spaces at Swasey or in P-1 of the parking garage. Friends visiting students should park in the visitor spaces or in the first-year parking lot at Ebaugh Pond. If you have overnight visitors you should contact Security (by dialing 0) for instructions. This will prevent your guest from getting a ticket.

A student may purchase a temporary parking permit at a cost of $15 (limited to a maximum length of 21 days). Vehicles with a temporary parking permit are to be parked in the green parking area (First Year parking).

Traffic & Parking Citations

If a student receives a citation, he/she has seven (7) days from the date the citation was issued to file an appeal. Fines will be posted to the student's account immediately. In the event of an overturned citation, the student account will be adjusted accordingly.

Students may download and print Traffic and Parking Citation Appeal Forms or pick them up outside of Student Accounts, and return them to the box outside of Student Accounts on the first floor of Doane Administration Building.

Students receiving five (5) or more citations in an academic year will lose their parking privileges for the remainder of the academic year.
