Where is Health Services?

Health Services is located in Whisler Hall, on the East Quad.

Where is Counseling Services?

Counseling Services is located on the second floor of Whisler Hall, above Health Services, on the East Quad.  

What are some examples of problems that students talk about in counseling?

Depression, Anxiety/Stress, Sexual Assault/Trauma, Family and relationship issues, Substance abuse, Eating and body image issues, Sexual orientation, Prejudice/Racism, Concern about a friend, Academic concerns.

How do I know if I need counseling?

If you feel like your problems are interfering with your success and/or your enjoyment of life, then a counselor can be a helpful person to talk to.  If you feel like talking to your friends isn't helping you move past your problem(s), a counselor can help you find new ways of thinking about your issues so you can better cope with them. 

What are the benefits of counseling?

Counselors can help you make changes in order for you to gain perspective, decrease you problems and ultimately to help you live a healthier, more fulfilling life. Counselors will work with you to identify your concerns , create objectives that address these concerns and help you find possible solutions. Counselors are professional, licensed, have years of experience and a counselor can be that non-biased person to help you work through your problems.   

How much does it cost?

Counseling is free of charge for all Denison students.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Just call 740-587-6647 to schedule an appointment.  Our Administrative Assistant will help you find a suitable time to see a counselor. 

Do you have walk-in hours?

Yes, at 8:30am, Monday-Friday. Our regular business hours are 8:30am — 4:30pm,  Monday-Friday with a break for lunch from 12:30pm — 1:30pm.
