Denison’s Whisler Center for Student Wellness offers a wide range of service, with physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, psychologists and social workers who are highly trained, experienced and licensed to provide quality health care to students in order to support a fulfilled and healthy living and learning experience.
In situations that arise requiring urgent medical care on campus, Denison's physician is on call for consultation and treatment in addition to the nurses available after regularly scheduled clinic hours. In case of extremely critical emergency situations, Health Services will have patients transported to a fully staffed hospital that have the capability to handle emergency treatment, as outlined below.
Critical Emergency Situations
For illness or injury beyond the scope of Denison Health Services' facilities, students will be transported to Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio (~six miles from Denison) by the Granville Emergency Squad. In case of extreme emergencies, always dial 911 before contacting Health Services or the Office of Safety, Security, and Risk Management.
