About Commencement

Denison has celebrated the graduation of its senior class 175 times at the college's Commencement exercises held every spring. Students are awarded their diplomas according to their degrees, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Arts. The ceremony includes remarks from representatives of the Board of Trustees and the senior class, as well as an address by a recipient of an honorary doctorate who is chosen by the faculty and the Board of Trustees. Retiring faculty are honored, and the university president delivers a charge to the class as they leave Denison. The celebration traditionally concludes with all in attendance singing the college's alma mater, “To Denison.”
