Mulberry gallery

Artist in residence, San Francisco based Jim Winters gave a public lecture on his work Oct 11 in Ebaugh Hall as part of a two week residency at Denison from October 8-21, 2011 that included an exhibition “From There to Here” in the Mulberry gallery, individual critiques with studio art majors and time working with Ron Abram’s printmaking class.

His democratic approach to art-making has moved his work fluidly between the realms of gallery/museum work, zine culture, street art, performance art, community involvement and high end graphic and interior design work. In addition to exhibiting at various artist-run galleries (ESP, Scene/Escena, Little Frankenstein’s, Showroom), he has been in group shows at larger venues: New Langton Arts and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. His life and work was documented in the film Super Feature: The Art of Jim Winters by Flowers Frankenstein and Michael Wertz. His work in the collections of Jason Goldberg, CEO of Fab.com, Ana Matronic of the pop group Scissor Sisters, singers Justin Bond and Rufus Wainwright amongst others.
