New Faculty Orientation
New Faculty Orientation is scheduled for August 20-21, 2015. Orientation provides the opportunity to meet other faculty and develop some working relationships with them. A package containing information concerning this orientation has been sent to you; please take time to carefully review all the materials.
The links below are to inform you about important employee/teaching information.
Section I: New Employee Information
You should receive 2 letters of information, the first is sent in June to your home address followed by another in August. The August letter is sent to your email address since you will be in transition to relocating to the Denison area. As we receive your completed personal data form you will be given access to your email & network accounts. You will receive an email from Susan Kosling informing you of your Denison e-mail address and password.
Salary Advance and Moving Expenses
Faculty members may obtain one salary advance per academic year, not in excess of one month's gross pay, by submitting a Request for Payment to the Office of Provost with a brief statement outlining the general purpose of the advance. Such advances will be recovered over the remaining pay periods of the current contract year.
The Request for Payment form (located under the Accounting channel in MyDenison - Accounting Forms) is submitted to Susan Kosling no later than August 15th in order to receive payment during the first week of classes.
Moving Expenses can be reimbursed by completing the Request for Payment form (located under the Accounting channel in MyDenison - Accounting Forms) , attaching the receipts, and submitting to Susan Kosling. Please complete the form including purpose of payment, specific amounts and total amount. The Provost's Office will complete the index title and account numbers. The Faculty/Staff Picture Identification Card is issued at the time of employment for the exclusive use of the employee. There will be time on Tuesday of Orientation to get your photo ID in the Curtis West Service Center located on the West Quad in the Curtis Dining Hall building. The Denison ID number will show up on the front of your Denison ID Card. This card serves a dual purpose as an activity card and identification for Denison staff members.
This card enables the holder to attend, without charge, home athletic events. Presentation of this card is required when using the automated library circulation system and all athletic facilities, including swimming and the weight room. The Vail Arts Series, various lectures and theater presentations are also open to employees. There may be a charge for some events. Your ID card is also used for card key access to some areas on campus. The card also provides access to Denison Dollars.
You can load your Denison ID Card with funds to be used at various areas on campus. These funds are called Denison Dollars and can be used for purchases at the Bookstore, Slayter Union, Curtis and Huffman Dining Halls, as well as laundry services, vending machines and Whits Frozen Custard in Granville. You can load your card by visiting the Cashier's Office in Doane Administration Building.
The department will take care of submitting paperwork to Facilities Services in order for you to receive a building key. You will be able to pick it up during their office hours. Please call Lynn McIlyar at 587-6264 in advance to confirm that it is ready for you. When you pick it up, you will need to show a Denison I.D. or your driver's license.
