The Oak Ridge Science Semester enables students to join ongoing investigations at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee in research areas as diverse as astrophysics, cell biology, DNA sequencing, genetic mutagenesis, parallel computing, robotics, toxicology, and much more.
Housing is provided in an apartment complex in Oak Ridge. Three or four students usually share a furnished two-bedroom apartment and all linens and housewares are provided. Please feel free to contact Beth Jeffries, ORSS Program Assistant (email@example.com) for more detailed information on provided furnishings. The housing (approximately valued at $2,200/semester) is paid for by the ORSS program.
Students are responsible for transportation to and from Oak Ridge and for all local travel to and from the laboratories. Because there is no local bus service, car pools are commonly used in commuting daily to and from ORNL. Shuttle services from the Knoxville airport to Oak Ridge are available.
