Three Denison students took three of the four top awards at a National Association of Teachers of Singing competition, in the music theatre category at Wright State University on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Meg Odell '19, Rachel Azbell '19, and Reilly Harring '19 won 1st, 3rd, and 4th places in the lower Musical Theatre category. The students earned cash awards and certificates for their achievements.

All three singers study voice with Assistant Professor Belinda Andrews-Smith. This is the 12th year Professor Smith's students have placed while competing against the largest music programs in the state. This year, the contest was extremely competitive against Wright State's large Music Theatre program. Andrews-Smith has been diligently working with Academic Affairs Council to begin a music theatre program at Denison.

First place winner, Meg Odell '19 will compete in the The Great Lakes Regional Competition on March 4, 2017 at University of Toronto, in Ontario Canada.
